This work tells my story about identity, a search for balance between my Armenian roots and my Dutch home. On the canvas you will find symbols from both cultures, interwoven to show how these worlds come together in me. The center is a woman, who I am and who increasingly explores who she is and where she belongs. This painting is a journey of introspection, discovering your place in this world and embracing all facets of who you are.

Between Two Worlds is a work of art composed of different materials and techniques that together form a layered whole. The background in acrylic provides a calm base, against which the woman in oil paint clearly stands out. Her presence feels powerful, but also modest.
Art gold leaf is added to add accents and a soft sheen that enhances the movement in the work. In addition, I have incorporated a vintage fabric on the canvas. This material adds a personal element, and by painting the fabric, it is seamlessly incorporated into the whole.
Layers of napkins and decoupage create subtle patterns and textures that are repainted, creating extra depth. This mix of techniques brings a balance between the recognizable and the abstract, between softness and liveliness.
Between Two Worlds is a play of contrasts and layers, making it both pleasant and exciting to look at – a work that always seems to show something new.
