Frequently asked questions

✨ Process

1. How do I commission a custom artwork?

Broadly, it works as follows:

  1. Intake interview via email or phone
  2. Concept sketch based on your wishes
  3. Feedback round and adjustments
  4. Final artwork on paper or canvas
  5. Packaging & shipping

2. Can I provide my own photo for a portrait drawing?

Yes, you can provide your own photo (no copyrighted photos) to serve as a reference for a portrait drawing. It is important to ensure that the photo is clear, well-lit, and that the subject is clearly visible. Are you unsure? Feel free to contact us to discuss which photos are suitable for a portrait drawing.

3. Do I or the person to be portrayed need to pose live?

You can, but it’s not necessary, as I prefer to work from photos (preferably several) and a description. We can video call if you want to explain something specific.

4. Can you also paint or draw someone who has passed away?

Yes, absolutely. I work with photos and would love to hear what made the person special, so I can incorporate that, for example, in color or symbolism.

✨ Price and Delivery Time

5. What does a painted artwork cost?

The price for painting an artwork or a portrait can vary, depending on the complexity and size of the work. On average, you can expect a price for an acrylic or oil painting to start from 150 euros for an A4 size.

6. How much does it cost to have a portrait drawn?

A drawing starts from 75 euros. This includes a plain background and one object (e.g., one pet or one person). Larger sizes, multiple people, or additional symbolism are also possible; I will always send you a clear quote in advance.

7. How long does it take to paint a portrait?

An acrylic or oil portrait takes more time than a drawing. If there is a specific date in mind, I will work with that. For detailed information on prices and current delivery times, it is best to contact us. On average, between 3 and 8 weeks.

8. How long does it take to draw a portrait?

A drawing generally has a delivery time of up to 3 weeks. If my schedule changes, I will contact you in time.

✨ Materials

9. What materials are used for drawing or painting a portrait?

For drawing a portrait, I use various materials such as pencils, charcoal, watercolor, or ink. The paper is at least 300 gsm premium drawing paper.

For a painted portrait, I use professional acrylic or oil paints from various brands such as Norma, Amsterdam, Cobra, Windsor and Newton, and more. The frame of a canvas is made of wood, and the canvas itself is prepared painter's canvas made of linen or cotton.

10. How do you protect a drawing?

I treat each original drawing with a fixative. This is a transparent spray that fixes the pigment on the paper. This protects the artwork from smudges, dust, and light. I use a matte fixative that does not make the work shiny or darker.

11. How can you protect an acrylic painting?

Just like an oil painting, an acrylic painting can be protected with varnish. Varnish protects against dust, dirt, moisture, and UV light. Additionally, varnish can also adjust the sheen of the painting. You can choose between matte, satin, or gloss varnish, and of course, I will varnish the painting for you.
